Calculus

Boy, you were like math

Despite my earnest desires and unyielding perseverance,

I could never understand you.

There was always a problem,

An equation I couldn’t solve.

 You carried a calculator,

An instrument as seemingly infallible as God himself,

But numbers weren’t on our side.

After a while, I realized

 The calculator was right

You and I were not on the same Cartesian Plane,

And no matter how many derivatives we try

There will be no solution.

It took years of formulation, calculation, and frustration

For us to realize

That we never any good at math.
